Carbon Law Partners, a law firm offering solicitors the freedom and flexibility of an alternative legal career, is excited to announce that one of its partners, Tom Allen, has joined Simon Gibson on his popular podcast ‘From The Courtroom To The Boardroom.’

Simon Gibson is a leading lawyer turned global CEO, and his upbeat podcast is for legal leaders, lawyers and the legal sector’s future-facing suppliers who are interested in the thought-provoking intersection between law and business.

By inviting one of the firm’s partners, Tom Allen, who has more than 20 years of experience in the practice of family law, including expertise in divorce, financial order proceedings, separation agreements, and Children Act matters, Carbon Law Partners sees this as an opportunity to show exceptional lawyers what its unique law firm model has to offer.

A spokesperson from Carbon Law Partners said, “Creating Carbon required a back-to-the-drawing-board approach, taking the very best from existing law firm models and blending it with inspiration from other sectors. The result was a platform that provides the very best support to lawyers who can advise clients when, where and how they choose.”

During his time on Gibson’s ‘From The Courtroom To The Boardroom’ podcast, Allen discussed how the platform model works at Carbon Law Partners, what made him take the leap to join, and the benefits of being a partner at the law firm.

Allen stated, “Very early on in my career, I covered a couple of family law matters and discovered I had a really natural flair for it. It is such an interesting area of law. I enjoy the challenges that it brings, and at Carbon, there is so much variety in the cases I get to work on.”

Established in 2014 by Michael Burne, Carbon Law Partners was created to provide a platform for lawyers and clients to connect in ways not possible in traditional or consultant solicitor law firms.

Born from experience in both private practice of top 10 law firms and on boards of large financial services businesses, Carbon Law Partners set out with a clear purpose to align the interests of all stakeholders, including clients, lawyers, support staff and suppliers.

At the time, being a client really helped Michael and the founding team to focus on what clients really want from their relationships with lawyers and what lawyers really want from practising law. Some of the beliefs at Carbon Law Partners include the following:

Equity

The opportunity for all lawyers and staff to own a stake in what Carbon Law Partners is building together; additionally, they can take home 70% of their fee income.

Quality

Independent, external auditors review client files without notice to lawyers ensuring that the law firm really puts standards first.

Removing administrative tasks from lawyers’ day-to-day work also gives them the time to deliver quality services to their clients.

Value

A right for lawyers to transfer their valued client relationships to colleagues when they retire and so ensuring great care is taken of clients by all. With the retiring Partner receiving a financial value for their life’s work too.

Exclusivity

All of the lawyers practice law through Carbon Law Partners and are encouraged not to be hosted by multiple firms or platforms with the risks to clients and the community that poses.
