A review of Total Restore on Open Health Tools has been put under the spotlight recently, with the manufacturer of the product, Gundry MD, threatening to take legal action against the popular health website over the negative review.

The Open Health Tools site author, Johan Theorin, has adamantly defended the review, saying: “Gundry MD is trying to silence legitimate criticism of his herbal supplements without regard for the damage it does to website owners like myself. He knows the legal threats are baseless, so really this is little more than bullying.”

Open Health Tools is a website that offers the latest news, opinions and research articles from the world of biohacking and regularly publishes no-nonsense reviews on a range of health supplements.

Review drama

Total Restore by Gundry MD is a highly popular supplement claiming to help promote a healthy gut. Open Health Tools has reviewed this product in detail and was unfortunately not impressed, claiming that Gundry MD’s Total Restore is mostly made from ‘largely useless’ herbal ingredients and offers poor value for money.

Total Restore is allegedly meant to cure ‘leaky gut syndrome’ and restore gut health. However, Open Health Tools has taken issue with these claims, saying that there is no evidence that ‘leaky gut syndrome’ even exists and that prebiotics are a better choice for restoring gut health in the long run anyway.

In response to the threatened legal action by Gundry MD, Johan Theorin has put this disclaimer on the Open Health Tools site to try to clear up the apparent controversy:

“Everything on this review of Total Restore falls under fair use. I do not need permission from Gundry MD or Aria Goodman to talk about, criticize or review their products online. According to the DMCA (which is a US law, not a global law), you do not need permission to quote copyrighted materials for purposes of education or criticism.

We are not misrepresenting or pretending to be Gundry MD. The purpose of this Total Restore review is to educate people about what a scam this product really is in my honest, personal opinion! As such, all use of copyrighted images falls under fair use. Believe it or not, you cannot just remove criticism of scam products from the internet at will. Doing so can lead to unforeseen consequences.”
