Blantyre, South Lanarkshire – Scottish company Precise Installs is expanding its team and increasing its capacity to meet the growing demand for air source heat pump installations and renewable heating in Scotland. As the Scottish government aims to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2045, it is estimated that at least one million on-gas homes need zero emissions heating by 2030. Precise Installs is one of the businesses looking to meet this demand.

Directors and owners Scott Murphy and William Walker have taken steps to diversify their business and increase its capacity. With their BPEC Heat Pump Qualification training and attendance at multiple manufacturer training modules, Scott and William recognised the importance of heat pump installations to their sector. Precise Installs now offers design and installation services for air source heat pumps.

Scott Murphy, Director of Precise Installs, said, “Our motivation came from two things: the organic demand from our customer base and the natural progression that our industry will need to adapt to. We wanted to be ahead of the curve!”

In the last three months, the demand for energy efficient air source heat pumps has grown significantly, far outweighing gas boiler leads. Offering a reduction in energy bills along with a reduced carbon footprint to has appealed to customers. Precise Installs has responded by expanding its team and hiring two more engineers. The business is also looking for an in-house sales and design manager and two additional engineers.

Precise Installs is Microgeneration Certification Standard (MCS) accredited for both design and installation, a mark of quality that shows that products and installation contractors comply with recognized industry standards. This certification allows potential customers to access loan and grant funding available from Home Energy Scotland (HES), as only MCS-certified installers are eligible for HES funded installations.

Scott and William are encouraged by the enthusiasm their engineers have shown for heat pump installations. William Walker, Director of Precise Installs, said, “Our engineers love it! It’s a different challenge for them than the normal day they face.”

By diversifying and expanding, Precise Installs is investing in the future of the business and reaching net zero targets. Scott Murphy said, “I think we will see exponential growth within our business as the demand is naturally going to continue to grow to meet the targets and expectations set at government level.”
