The coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused unprecedented changes to the way Georgians are living their lives. The pandemic has shuttered businesses, led to layoffs, and interrupted education statewide. On April 1, Gov. Brian Kemp announced that the state’s public schools will be closed for the remainder of the year, switching instead to digital learning.

The announcement highlighted a glaring problem for Georgia students: Far too few have Internet access and a computer to learn on.

At The Champion Firm, P.C., we wanted to help bridge the gap. That’s why we donated 25 new laptops to needy students at Campbell High School in Smyrna. While computers cannot replace in-person learning, they can help Cobb County students access the online assignments they need to prevent learning loss during this difficult time. That way, they will be as prepared as possible when they return to school again.

We’re proud to support the fine Georgia teachers and administrators who are working so hard to reach all students around the state, and look forward to the day when everyone get can back to business — and learning — as usual.
