Dr. Andrea Schaeffer is trained in minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic surgery. Dr. Schaeffer is now accepting new patients across Birmingham, Alabaster and Shelby County
BIRMINGHAM, AL – Complete Women’s Care of Alabama is pleased to announce that Dr. Andrea Schaeffer, MD, has joined the practice as an obstetrician and gynecologist. Dr. Schaeffer sees patients at the Birmingham office on Grandview Parkway and the Alabaster office, and she is accepting new patients now.
Dr. Schaeffer performs minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including robotic hysterectomy, robotic myomectomy and pelvic organ prolapse repair. She also provides full obstetric and prenatal care, annual exams and gynecologic care for women at every stage of life.
Training and Background
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Schaeffer earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with a minor in Healthcare Ethics from St. Louis University. She received her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed her OB-GYN residency at HCA Florida West Hospital with the University of Central Florida in Pensacola, where she served as Chief Resident and received the Resident Teaching Award for Excellence.
Dr. Schaeffer is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is licensed in Alabama and Florida. She is affiliated with Grandview Medical Center and performs procedures at Grandview Outpatient Surgery Center and Shelby Ambulatory Services.

Dr. Schaeffer cares for patients with a wide range of gynecologic and obstetric needs, including:
- Minimally invasive and robotic surgery, including hysterectomy, myomectomy, sacrocolpopexy and endometriosis resection
- Pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence and pelvic floor disorders
- Prenatal care, high-risk pregnancy management and vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC)
- Endometriosis, fibroids and PCOS
- Menopause management and hormone replacement therapy
- Annual exams, Pap smears and adolescent gynecology
