Billy Crafton joins long-time friend, and co-founder, Rodney Smith, in the re-launch of new charity, Mobile Music Institute (MMI). Mr. Crafton joins the advisory committee as the non-profit organization looks to navigate its way through the challenging times of a pandemic.
Mobile Music Institute is an after-school youth music production program and more, giving students a comprehensive, multi-faceted understanding of the wide variety of options available to them in the world of music.
MMI’s six-week program features:
- Band Placement & Genre Exploration
- Song & Melody Development
- The Power of “WE”
- Production & Engineering
- Live Sound Mechanics
- Name, Marketing & Branding
- Touring, Deals & Budgeting
- Artist & Band Management
- Live Performance
MMI launched its pilot program in San Diego, California, working with students from Hoover High School. Mid-way through the program, San Diego County school district brought the program to the halt with in-person restrictions due to the pandemic.
Thankfully, after that short break, the program continued through the generosity of Queen Bee’s Art & Cultural Center, who hosted the final three weeks of the program.
The MMI experience is led by a team with over 50 years of philanthropy and service in communities throughout the United States and around the world. Our leadership focuses on bringing a team of like-minded individuals together who understand what it takes to make a powerful impact in the music industry.
From a state-of-the-art mobile recording studio to the teachers and volunteers who have lived a life in the music, MMI is committed to sustaining a fiscally transparent organization that positively impacting the youth it serves.
Billy Crafton’s $10,000 donation will jumpstart the organization’s fund development and help develop their vision of opening 5 new youth music production program locations.
Money raised will go towards finding the best teachers and mentors, providing state-of-the-art equipment, and creating mobile recording studios that allow passionate youth the chance to live their dreams in the music industry.
Billy Crafton adds –
“It’s exciting to work again with Rodney and his team on starting a new charity. Having worked with him over the last 20 years, helping to build Future for KIDS and Helping Hands for Freedom, both still serving the community today, I am proud to be part of this great charity that serves children and helps them achieve their dreams in music.”
