Batley, United Kingdom – CMS Fitness Courses has released an essential guide designed to help a range of fitness businesses, such as sports centres, gyms and specialist fitness venues, grow and boost their customers in 2023.

The guide features five tried and tested methods, including advanced learner loans, free courses, and advice from the National Careers Service, which CMS Fitness Courses hopes will improve growth and revenue for companies in the fitness and leisure industry during the current energy crisis and rising prices in the UK.

“Energy crisis, staff shortages, businesses closing down – it won’t have escaped your notice that the fitness and leisure industry is facing a broad range of challenges in the year ahead,” stated Gareth Luke, Managing Director of CMS Fitness Courses. “The good news is that there is a range of options available to you, including financial support to bring in new staff and upskill your current team. At CMS, we’ve helped countless individuals progress along their career path – and countless businesses grow and thrive. As an organisation delivering high-quality fitness and Personal Trainer Courses, our new five top tips should help you through 2023.”

CMS Fitness Courses’ tips include:

  • Boosting apprenticeship hours

To help absorb the impact of apprentices spending 20% of their weekly hours on studying, businesses can increase their working hours to supplement those missing hours. This benefits both the employee and the business without putting additional pressure on recourses.

  • Look into Advanced Learner Loans

Rather than having to fund their training in advance, employees can support their personal development with Advanced Learner Loans. This allows them to manage the cost and spread it out over time to when they are earning a full-time salary.

  • Consult the National Careers Service

The Government’s National Careers Service is there to give advice on training options and to direct learners towards courses and delivery partners. Their advisors can provide career information and guidance to help employers and employees make informed decisions on training and progression within their careers.

  • Check out the Adult Education Budget

The Adult Education Budget (AEB) funds a range of qualifications for adult learners and apprentices looking to obtain a first Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, subject to eligibility. The funding rules are clearly set out on the Government website, along with a Level 3 qualifications flow chart detailing all the options open to learners.

  • Find out about free courses

Any employees who have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification may be eligible for free upskilling courses. Employers can ask current team members if they would like to follow a specific course to move out of their current role and to embark on training for a new career as a personal trainer or to expand their current skill set by completing a specialised course, such as Sports Massage Courses.

This approach will not only boost employee morale and help with staff retention by employers showing commitment to their employee’s careers but will also benefit businesses as they will gain an employee with advanced skills.
